L5P Parts and Tool List Guide

This guide will compile a list of common parts and tools for the 2018 Silverado 2500HD with the L5P Duramax engine.  This guild should apply to 17-19 model years as well

Tools For Common Repairs

• SUNEX 1/2 Drive 2-inch Jumbo Crowfoot – Used to remove Tie Rods
• Milwaukee M12 FUEL 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless High Speed 3/8 in. Ratchet
• BlueDriver Bluetooth Pro OBDII Scan Tool – Great for reading Codes, Clearing Codes and Viewing Live vehicle data
• WORKPRO 3PC Long Reach Pliers – These came in handy repairing the punctured TURBO Coolant Line.
• LEXIVON HEX Bit Socket Set – You will need this occasionally.  Especially the 10mm to replace the brake pads
• CRAFTSMAN Mechanics Tool Set, 1/4 and 3/8 Inch Drive, 189 Piece – Perfect to keep in the toolbox.  Covers almost anything you may need to do roadside repairs
• Craftsman Socket Set (3/4″ Drive) – Really comes in handy for the bigger suspension repairs
• Milwaukee M18 FUEL 1/2″ High Torque Impact Wrench – This impact Wrench is a beast! Pricey but boy is it worth it.

Upgrades over OE Parts

• Kryptonite Sway Bar End Links (0-2″) – Way beefier than the OEM parts
• Kryptonite Upper Control Arm Kit – Very Beefy and ball joints are easily replaced
• Bilstein B8 5100 Front & Rear Shocks Kit – Shocks are way better than the factory Rancho shocks. If you don’t like a firm ride, you may opt for the 4100 series instead
• Kryptonite Death Grip Tie Rods Ends – I will post a comparison picture soon
